Superbike Mid-Ohio Memories 1983-2014 & 2024

Originally run under the AMA Superbike Championship name, the inaugural Superbike race was held at Mid-Ohio in 1983 and won by Steve Wise. This weekend's Permco MotoAmerica Superbikes at Mid-Ohio (Aug. 15-17) marks the 34th running of the event featuring the 51st and 52nd all-time Superbike races at the legendary track. Superbike racing returned to Mid-Ohio for the first time in 10 years in 2024. Below is a look back on the history of professional motorcycle road racing at the track:

IRVINE, CA (August 13, 2025) – Although both riders won races at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course a year ago, Strack Racing’s Mathew Scholtz came away with the most Supersport points. When he didn’t win, he finished second. Meanwhile, his championship rival, Rahal Ducati Moto’s PJ Jacobsen, won race one but finished fourth in race two. When the MotoAmerica series departed Ohio in 2024, Scholtz did so with a 25-point lead over Jacobsen with two rounds remaining.
